The summary of the dialogue is below along with the full video
Lt Gen JS Matharu (Retd)(Host): Viewers, welcome back to another episode from MRO Digest Forums. Today, we have the privilege of having with us Major Gen K Eswaran, who retired as the Commandant of EME School Vadodara and is a specialist in armoured fighting vehicles. I’ve had the privilege of serving alongside him during our service.
As you know, comprehensive national power has one major aspect: human capital development. This has been the center of a lot of work that Gen Eswaran has done during his service. In fact, he has created a mutual help platform called www.helpandserve.in , which is a non-profit initiative to provide a platform for those who need help and those who want to serve our community.
Gen Eswaran, let’s start with the concept you’ve coined, “Moral Infrastructure.” Could you tell us more about it?
Maj Gen K Eswaran (KE): Moral infrastructure is a concept that focuses on the development of moral values, ethics, and character within individuals, organizations, and nations. We often talk about physical infrastructure, like roads and bridges, and mental infrastructure, which includes knowledge and skills. However, the third essential component is moral infrastructure. This aspect encompasses qualities like sincerity, integrity, trustworthiness, and a sense of duty. I have covered in detail in my concept paper.
Host: How does moral infrastructure relate to individuals and organizations, especially in the corporate world?
KE: Moral infrastructure is crucial for individuals and organizations, including those in the corporate world. Individuals with strong moral values are more likely to be sincere, loyal, and trustworthy, which enhances their contributions to the organization. For corporations, building trust and being trustworthy are key aspects of moral infrastructure. By creating an environment of trust and integrity, companies can foster employee loyalty, improve their reputation, and attract foreign investors. It’s about aligning business goals with ethical principles.
Host: You’ve mentioned a structured approach to identifying trustworthy people. Can you elaborate on this?
KE: Certainly. Identifying trustworthy individuals involves a structured approach. This process can be taught through workshops or training sessions. It’s about instilling a sense of ethics, integrity, and loyalty within individuals. We can organize workshops, both online and offline, to help individuals and organizations understand and implement this structured approach effectively. It’s a practical and beneficial way to build a moral infrastructure.
Host: That sounds promising. Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences with us today.
KE: You’re welcome. Thank you for having me on the show.
Host: Viewers, if you found this material valuable, please subscribe to our channel, dedicated to MRO professionals and discussions related to comprehensive national power. We look forward to having you back with us for our next episode. Thank you for joining us today.
